Syracuse International Airport Branding

I highlighted a few words that stood out in the Syracuse Hancock International Airport mission statement. Words such as More, Increase, Beyond, Optimize, and Exceeds. All in which can be summed up into one symbol ( + ) a plus sign. Replacing the right arm of the Y with a symbol would be best. The reason was for it was because it focuses on the why ( Y ). When asking the question, Why choose SYR? It answers back with a Plus Sign.

Taking this idea a little bit further, I thought about adding the idea of travel, going places (->) an arrow symbol. I then combined the plus sign idea and arrow idea to arrive at a shape of a plane that sort of takes on the look of both, Plus Sign & Arrow. The plane was positioned to do the following:

To symbolize going from ground (bottom) to air (top), in a diagonal motion left to right.
• Finishing the arm of the Y
• Being an accent to draw more interest.
• To add to the overall look to the SYR I felt that it would add character and personality if I styled the stem and left arm of the Y to have similar characteristics of airplane wings and fins.

Strong, clean, simple was the goal.
